To lead the implementation of the Safety and Wellbeing of Children and Young People Framework and Policy across their division within TSA including risk backssments, training, advice, developing and monitoring safeguards and child safety compliance.
The Safeguarding Consultant will be responsible for managing, recording and reviewing all the Safeguarding cases within their division. This includes providing advice and coaching regarding the management of new and ongoing matters of concerning behaviours and allegations to ensure The Salvation Army meets its legislative, compliance and reporting requirements for safeguarding. Key Roles and Responsibilities: Case Management Provide specialist
advice to Divisional Leaders, State Managers, Corps Officers and Centre managers and others regarding risks to children and vulnerable people, including risk backssments, management of concerning behaviour, allegations of abuse and/or misconduct, and development and management of Safety Management Plans in accordance with the Person of Interest (Safeguarding) Policy.
Ensure registers of Persons of Interest are updated and maintained and ensure all Case Management notes, and records of communication are documented, stored, and managed appropriately. Provide monthly reports to the GM Safeguarding and Head of Q & S with recommendations for managing reviewed cases.
Review POI safety management plans in line with the POI policy and procedures. Undertake professional supervision to manage cases as required. Training Train Officers, Employees and Volunteers in Safeguarding Development Modules across the Division, including social programs as required. Support the implementation of the Safeguarding Development Schedule for all roles required to undertake training across the Division. Fact Finding Undertake fact-finding as required for allegations related to concerning behaviour, misconduct and reportable conduct. Ensure all concerns related to reportable conduct are managed in line with the requirements for reporting Safeguarding Assurance Support local leaders to undertake the safeguarding backssment and audits, identify gaps and create a continuous improvement plan to ensure compliance with the Safety and Wellbeing of Children and Young People Framework.
Regular reporting of findings of safeguarding backssments and continuous improvement plans to management including Divisional Leaders and Safeguarding Operations. Complete Corps based Risk backssments and situation risk backssments as required and recommend ways to reduce risk to children.
Support all Activities related to Children and Vulnerable People have the appropriate risk backssments completed and updated as required. Advisory Provide advice to Divisional Leaders, Area Officers, Corps Officers, Employees and Volunteers regarding improving safety for children, young people and vulnerable people. Education Qualifications: Previous experience in backssing safeguarding risks. Degree qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Criminology, Social Sciences, or similar Social Work, and a Working with Childrens Check Self-motivated, high level of initiative and strong work ethic.
Ability to handle confidential information in a confidential, sensitive, and professional manner. Sound communication skills (both oral and written) to be able to interact positively with a variety of people. Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively in handling competing deadlines. Problem solving involving complex situations and managing conflict. Team player, flexible with a positive attitude and strong attention to detail Solid level of computer literacy in MS Office.
