The echo tech uses high frequency sound waves (ultrasound), and other noninvasive echocardiography testing equipment, to produce images of the heart. Essential Functions Perform imaging and non-imaging cardiovascular evaluations which may include exercise tolerance tests, electrocardiograms, stress tests, and transesophageal echocardiography (TEE). Prepares patient and equipment for procedure,
positions patient as appropriate for procedure. Obtains a fully executed informed consent and paperwork for procedure. Reports pertinent information to physician/provider Provides pre and post patient/family education.
Explains procedures to patient and addresses patients’ concerns. Discusses with the physician any problems that might result in sub-standard exam or affect patient safety Monitor patients' comfort and safety during tests, alerting physicians to abnormalities or changes in patient responses. Utilizes universal precautions on all cases. Performs procedures safely with minimal supervision. Requests assistance when performing unfamiliar procedure, recognizes own limitations.
