As the Director of Compass SF HOME Programs, youll lead a team devoted to securing stable, long-term housing for families in need. Youll oversee an annual budget exceeding $11 million, spearhead program initiatives, and serve as an ambassador for Compass SF HOME, both internally and within the community. As the

Director of SF HOME programs, you will supervise and foster the leadership skills of 3 Program Directors.

Together with your team, youll assist homeless families in securing lasting housing solutions. Program support encompasses housing search, rental subsidies, case management, and aftercare services, ensuring sustained stability. Responsibilities: Directly supervise three Program Directors, including recruitment, professional development, and performance evaluation. Collaborate with the leadership team to sustain a positive, collaborative culture. Provide training, supervision, and resources essential for team success. Oversee an $11+ million budget, working closely with Program Directors and the Finance team to ensure that funds are spent appropriately throughout the year.

Ensure full compliance with contractual obligations and prompt, accurate data entry into systems like SF One System/Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) and Compass Salesforce database. Develop program policies and procedures. Work with the Impact and Learning team to use data to inform our housing efforts, diving deeply into what’s working, what’s not, and how staff across the agency can better target our efforts to improve family outcomes. Represent Compass SF HOME in meetings and collaboration with internal and external partners.

Collaborate with contract leads at the SF Department of Homelessness & Supportive Housing. Collaborate with the clinical team to ensure that services are delivered from a trauma-informed perspective and that all staff have received robust clinical training and support. Work with the Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging to ensure that services are imbued with an inclusive, equitable and anti-racist perspective. The Candidate: We seek an experienced leader capable of overseeing program components, ensuring optimal service provision, and driving impactful outcomes.

Ideal candidates will possess a track record in managerial roles within social work or related fields, demonstrating exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Specific qualifications: At least 5 years of experience in staff supervision, including direct and indirect reports. Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, coach, and mentor. At least 5 years of experience developing and managing complex nonprofit programs. Deep understanding and experience with direct service programs for at risk individuals. Experience with residential and/or other homeless housing programs preferred.

Experience overseeing contracts, managing budgets, and maintaining relationships with funders. Strong communication, advocacy, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Experience supporting individuals in crisis and with trauma-informed care. Deep commitment to and demonstrated success discussing, integrating, and promoting diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging throughout a complex and dynamic organization. Degree in social work, non-profit administration/management or related field encouraged but not required, or a combination of equivalent educational and lived experience.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office required; Salesforce experience a plus. Bilingual Spanish a plus. Real estate experience a plus. Compensation and Benefits: Salary range: $105,000 - 125,000 per year. Paid time off: just under 4 weeks of vacation your first year, just under 5 in your second. Also paid holidays, sick time, family leave. Insurance: health, dental and vision insurance are fully covered by Compass for employees and dependent children. We also provide long term disability and life insurance. Retirement: after one year of work, Compass contributes an amount equal to 5% of your salary into a retirement account; this vests during years 2-5.
