This Principal R&D Engineer will be involved in product development for a key product category in Interventional Oncology that has significant growth potential and investment for Boston Scientific. This role will involve complex technology and the ability to be at forefront of research and development for patient-critical procedures. At Boston Scientific, our products and technologies are used

to diagnose or treat a wide range of medical conditions. We continue to innovate in key areas and are extending our innovations into new geographies and high-growth adjacency markets.

In Interventional Oncology (IO) we design, develop, and produce technologies for diagnosing and treating cancer as well as other conditions in the abdominal region, including gastric bleeds, uterine fibroids, and aneurysms. We provide a number of solutions to patients that include drainage catheters, microcatheters, guidewires, microspheres and coils. We have a robust product line and pipeline, and we will continue to make an investment in Interventional Oncology treatments. Key Responsibilities Drives complex

or novel assignment requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures.

Work is expected to result in the development of new or refined technologies, products, materials, processes, equipment, and/or scientific method to broaden BSC’s Intellectual Property in key strategic areas. Successfully completes engineering work in one or more of the following: technology development, product design and development, test of materials, preparation of specifications, process study, research investigation (animal and clinical studies), and report preparation. Provides guidance to product and technology teams. backsses the feasibility and soundness of alternative engineering processes, products, or equipment.

Coordinates, manages, and documents project goals and progress and recommends appropriate revisions. Interfaces with Physicians/Cath Lab personnel to identify needs and to obtain feedback on concepts and performance of new devices and to translate customer needs into product concepts. Develops and coaches others on engineering documentation. Trains and/or provides work direction to technicians and less experienced engineers. Leads engineering teams to the successful completion of project goals. Demonstrates PDP/TDP system knowledge through coaching and delivery of high quality, high impact deliverables.

Qualifications: The qualified candidate will possess a M. S. in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry or related field with 8 or more years of industrial experience or Ph. D. with 3 to 6 years of experience in industry. The preferred candidate will also have background in medical devices and technical project management expertise. Excellent communication and presentation skills, experience working with cross-functional teams, biomedical or anatomy experience and/or aptitude, experience as a project core team member, and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite are also desired, as well as the strong ability to interact and collaborate with physicians in the clinic and in preclinical studies.
