Reactors. This design of Fuel gives it superior technical performance as compared to conventional commercial nuclear fuel, including lower fuel operating temperatures, enhanced coolability, and a more robust mechanical design. As a Senior Level or Principal Nuclear Engineer you will: Perform neutronics, thermal hydraulics, fuel performance, and/or transient simulations and analyses for a wide variety of operating conditions in various types of water-cooled reactors, in support of qualifying and licensing Fuel.

Responsibilities will include: Performing simulations and analyses to optimize the Fuel design for various reactor types for various fuel cycle objectives (e. g. improved safety

margins, burnup extension, power uprates, load-follow operation, waste volume reduction). Developing and implementing models of Fuel in one or more fuel performance codes and benchmarking these models against results from experimental irradiations and Post Irradiation Examinations.

Performing calculations and simulations to inform design, execution, and analysis of in-pile and out-of-pile experiments and other analyses performed by partner organizations. Performing independent reviews of neutronics, thermal hydraulics, fuel performance. Working collaboratively with other staff to determine engineering approach to simulations/analyses necessary to support development and licensing

of Lightbridge Fuel. Reporting results of selected simulations/analyses in peer-reviewed or popular publications.

Contributing to reports to support regulatory licensing of Lightbridge Fuel. Contribute to training junior staff to deepen their knowledge in their discipline and acquire skills in other disciplines. This is a full-time (remote) opportunity. For exceptional candidates, relevant work experience may substitute for years of experience.

Experience with modelling and simulation in at least one of the following areas: neutronics/core design, thermal hydraulics, fuel performance, transient analysis. Experience in two or more of these areas is preferred. Working knowledge of neutronics/core design, thermal hydraulics, fuel performance, transient analysis, and experience combining and integrating results from studies across these areas. Strong knowledge of reactor physics, thermal hydraulics, and nuclear fuel design. Experience in the area of metallic fuels, especially U-Zr, is advantageous.

Familiarity with ASME Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA-1) requirements. Experience with regulatory licensing of nuclear fuel is advantageous. Experience in mentoring and training junior staff.
