a High School diploma or equivalent, a valid driver's license, and current Utah POST Certification. Candidates must pass a stringent background check, drug screen, and a psychological evaluation. A college degree and prior law enforcement are preferred but not required.
Candidate must possess ability to prepare clear and concise written reports, communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, analyze dangerous situations rapidly and accurately before taking safe effective action, enforce federal, state and municipal laws and work with the public in a courteous respectful manner. Work conditions may present high stress and threat to personal safety during periods of search and seizure
and arrest. Incumbents may be exposed to toxic materials, have to deal with unruly or dangerous individuals, unsafe building sites and may have to use deadly force.
Incumbents may also be required to extend work schedule during emergency situations. A seasoned officer can currently make up to $44.84 per hour. Starting salary will be between $27.71 and $38.60 per hour based on qualifications and experience plus an excellent benefits package.
