The candidate will manage a diverse caseload, engage in case oversight at all litigation stages, and handle various legal and administrative functions. The attorney will also be responsible for negotiating settlements, preparing legal documents, and conducting legal research.
Duties: Manage a caseload of various personal injury matters in litigation. Prepare and file complaints and other legal documents on behalf of clients. Draft meet and confer letters to opposing counsel regarding discovery disputes. Prepare clients for depositions and other applicable hearings. Take and defend depositions throughout the course of litigation. Prepare and respond to motions, including dispositive motions.
Attend court appearances and hearings. Prepare for trial, including the identification and retention of experts. Negotiate settlements for personal injury cases.
Perform administrative and management functions for the department. Direct and support investigations on all assigned litigation matters backss potential and current matters for valuation purposes. Identify and retain medical and legal experts for each case. Maintain communication with clients, including reporting and budgeting guidelines. Conduct legal research on relevant issues during the pre-litigation process and throughout litigation. Requirements: Juris Doctor degree and current good standing with CA State Bar.3-5 years
of pre-litigation and litigation experience. Extensive experience taking and defending depositions.
Ability to manage discovery and assist with trial preparation. Active knowledge and ability to settle pre-litigation/litigation cases for full value.
