Nurse Practitioner certification by the California Board of Registered Nursing (board certified psychiatric mental health practitioner).
Graduate of an Accredited School of Nurse Practitioner Program (MSN or DNP) required. National Certification by recognized board-American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) OR American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). Furnishing privileges and DEA License with the California Board of Registered Nursing. BLS Certification. Demonstrated knowledge of psychiatric illnesses including substance use disorders. The applicant must not be a current Medi-Cal provider for the Alliance network in either Merced, Santa Cruz or Monterey County.
Drivers license for at least two years and driving record acceptable to insurance carrier. Valid California driver's license; auto in safe operating condition; auto liability insurance; good driving record; criminal record clearance; proof of authorization to work in the United States as required by Immigration and Reform Act of 1986. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Preferred: Three (3) years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in a Psychiatric setting. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Psychiatrically evaluate, backss, diagnose, treat assigned patients, including prescribing psychotropic and other medications as indicated.
Conduct psychiatric evaluation including social and medical histories, and mental health status. Create, initiate, and implement a plan of treatment including physical backssment as indicated. Prescribe initial and follow psychotropic medications, conducting regular backssments of therapeutic responses and side effects. Administer Intramuscular (IM) psychotropic medications. Conduct and assist with individual and group counseling as needed. Educate patients' psychotropic medications and monitor in accordance with recommended guidelines.
Collaborate with primary care providers in backssment of patient physical health and psychiatrists in backssment of patient mental health, making appropriate referrals to providers for further backssment and/or treatment, including dual diagnosis treatment. Meet with patients in person and via telehealth, collaborating and consulting regularly with support staff to evaluate effectiveness and potential side effects of medications. Evaluate patients for potential abuse, neglect, risk of danger to self and others, or grave disability, assisting patients and families in securing the least restrictive environment to ensure safety.
Conduct 5150 evaluations and completes 5150 applications as needed. Communicate effectively orally and in writing, with patients, families, facility and clinic personnel, and others. Document care in an electronic medical record according to Medicare, Medi-Cal or commercial insurance payor standards within 72 hours of patient care and according to agency guidelines. Participate in meetings and supervision. Establish and maintain effective and person-centered relations with patients, families and support staff. Maintain a comfortable, safe, non-institutional ambiance in services.
Contribute to organization-wide quality management and improvement efforts by consistently providing highest quality of professional interventions, fulfilling all documentation requirements, and proactively seeking ways to enhance the quality of services. Provide on-site crisis backssment and management of patients during regular work hours, both on-site and over the phone, during other hours. Document services effectively using an Electronic Medical Records with 70% of total hours worked documented. Participate in clinical supervision with MD to maintain licensing PMHNP-BC standards.
Learn and comply with laws, rules, regulations, protocols, and procedures. Maintain patient and family member confidentiality, adhering to HIPAA standards. Available to consult in emergency crisis. Other duties as assigned. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to: operate a motor vehicle; climb stairs; write and communicate in English; enter data on a computer screen; read documents being word-processed, etc. answer phones and communicate with staff, residents and agency visitors; meet the requirements of the classification and have mobility, vision, hearing and dexterity levels appropriate to the duties to be performed.
