Responsibilities • Troubleshoots electrical, plumbing, and appliance systems as well as monitoring all systems to ensure that they are working properly. Performs repairs, replacement and preventative maintenance as appropriate.
All work must be documented according to SHA process. o Electrical tasks include testing, repairing, or replacing light switches and electrical outlets as well as conducting ground fault detection tests. o Plumbing tasks include repairing faucets; replacing washers, seats, stems, hose bibs, supply lines, valves, and hardware as required; repairing minor water leaks; replacing and/or repairing flush valves or flush tank hardware; clearing clogged drains and soil
lines, and replacing water tanks. o Appliance systems include the repair/replacement of ranges, refrigerators, dishwashers and air conditioners.
• Performs carpentry work such as: replacing/repairing doors, windows and hardware; repairing cabinets and handrails; repairing roofing, gutters and downspouts; re-keying locks; and repairing decks. • Performs minor masonry work such as grout and brick repair and/or repairing minor cracked concrete. • Performs sheetrock repair such as installing and repairing drywall and blending finishes to match surrounding surfaces. • Performs painting of walls, ceilings, and other surfaces in accordance with established SHA standards, including tasks such as: preparing surfaces for painting by patching holes, sanding, scraping and/or masking; painting with brushes, rollers, or sprayers; performing touch-up painting after work in an area; spot painting metal surfaces for corrosion control.
• Performs daily upkeep and inspection to maintain safety and cleanliness of the community common areas, including pickup and removal of trash and debris throughout property, including property systems such as trash disposal areas, mailroom areas, maintenance shop/workrooms, and leasing office systems. • Performs specific grounds maintenance tasks in accordance with established procedures such as mowing, trimming, edging, pruning, fertilizing, watering, reseeding and weeding.
Makes ground care decisions such as cutting height, pruning requirements and plant spacing. • Removes snow and ice from sidewalks with snow blowers, shovels and de-ice material. • Operates and maintains swimming pools and spas. • Prepares vacant units for occupancy by sweeping, wet-mopping, vacuuming and/or waxing floors; cleaning the unit, including but not limited to appliances, bathroom fixtures, tub surrounds, windows, window coverings; and completing all maintenance and repairs; and remove trash and debris from interior and exterior of the unit.
• Performs equipment preventive maintenance tasks such as checking for proper equipment operation, lubricating bearings, and changing air filters. • Participates in on-call and weekend emergency maintenance and repairs as directed. • Responsible for thorough knowledge of SHA property management, maintenance plans and procedures. • Reports unusual or extraordinary circumstances regarding the community or tenants to the Property Supervisor. • Utilizes a wide range of power tools such as drills, sanders, sewage line cleaners, saws, power washers, compressors, volt-ohm-amp meters, snow blowers, and lawn mowers.
• Operates and maintains ground care equipment such as shovels, axes, hoes, wheelbarrows, saws, trimmers, and hedge clippers. • Operates and maintains cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, buffers, ladders, brooms, mops and other such items with an overall goal of presenting a clean, healthy environment. • Communicates with supervisor ideas/advice concerning products and vendor selection – based on knowledge and experience in the field, which may include research and evaluation of current or sample products for use in the maintenance of properties.
• Communicates and collaborates with vendors at communities, including the coordination and inspection of work performed by private contractors. • Assists with the ordering and receiving of routine and emergency supplies in compliance with the SHA Procurement Policy. • Assists in updating the Material Safety Data Sheets book. • Provides guidance as needed to other department personnel, including technical input to decision making of capital improvements and other maintenance issues. • Assists other staff with assignments and duties as necessary, and performs other necessary duties as required or assigned.
Acceptable Experience and Training High school diploma or GED equivalency is required with four of more years work experience in the care and maintenance of facilities and grounds, or an equivalent combination of training and experience to meet the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work of a Maintenance Mechanic. A Certified Pool Operator (CPO) license by the National Swimming Pool Foundation is required within 6 months of employment, and a gas license is required within one year of employment.
Must have and maintain a valid drivers license, reliable transportation, satisfactory driving record, and adequate insurance coverage. Must maintain an acceptable driving record according the SHAs policy and insurer. Project Overview: Bechtel is designing, constructing, and commissioning the world’s largest radioactive waste treatment plant for the U. S. Department of Energy at the Hanford Site in southeastern Washington State. The Hanford Tank Waste
Treatment and Immobilization Plant will use vitrification technology to process and solidify 56 million gallons (210 million liters) of radioactive and chemical waste stored at the Hanford site, which is a byproduct of plutonium production during World War II and the Cold War era.
The project is the largest undertaking of its kind and one of DOE’s most technically challenging cleanup projects. Its construction spans 65 acres (26 hectares) with four major nuclear facilities – Pretreatment, Low-Activity Waste Vitrification, High-Level Waste Vitrification and Analytical Laboratory – as well as operations and maintenance buildings, utilities, other support facilities.
The Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC) is a limited liability corporation created by Bechtel National Inc. (BNI) and Amentum. WTCC is a subcontractor to BNI, the prime contractor, to deliver the construction, turnover, startup, and commissioning activities for the WTP project. This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30am to 5:00pm (day shift) or 5:30pm to 4:00am (night shift), subject to change. The project may require employees to work weekends, overtime, holidays, and/or night shift as business needs arise.
Position Summary: The HLW Civil Field Engineer is responsible for tasks and activities relating to construction engineering within the Civil discipline (i. e. concrete, structural steel, excavation/backfill, scaffolding, architectural finishes) utilizing nuclear codes and standards. Responsibilities include the development of work plans, coordinating materials, performing, and documenting inspections, reporting progress, and resolving conflicts in design and construction related to the installation and testing of commodities through turnover to Startup/Commissioning. This position will be responsible for a variety of construction tasks utilizing nuclear and industrial codes and standards related to concrete, steel, earthwork, architectural installations.
Duties include interpreting design and vender drawings and specifications. This position requires good planning and organizational skills, ability to perform detailed inspections and the ability to produce accurate, clear, and concise documentation. Responsibilities: Coordinate with engineering on constructability and design issues relating to commodity installations and work sequencing. Provide field engineering support and assistance to superintendents, supporting personnel in meeting cost and time schedules, verifies materials, equipment, and quality, and assures results meet design requirements.
Develop work plans, coordinate material take-offs and requisitions, perform and document inspections, report progress, and resolve conflicts in design and construction related to the installation and testing of civil commodities. Perform Civil Field Engineering activities including inspections, audits and planning to support the installation of formwork, rebar, concrete, structural steel, architectural, earthwork and performs rigging support and planning activities for material and equipment.
Assure procedural compliance, material control, and complete and thorough documentation of inspections for completed work. Direct or perform preparation of quantity listings of field purchased material and equipment and initiates requisitions for field material purchases. Support preparation of construction drawings and schedules, design of temporary construction facilities and ensures preparation of as built drawings and other job plans. Support planning and delivery of construction materials and equipment, assuring that proper warehousing and storage exists to ensure environmental protection.
Review specifications, purchase orders, subcontracts, inspection reports, delivery schedules, instruction manuals, and technical data to assist and advise on site. Oversee and coordinate subcontractor work efforts and subcontract changes and interfaces. Qualifications and Skills Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related subject from an accredited university and 1 year of progressive construction or civil engineering experience; or in lieu of a degree, 7 years of progressive civil related construction/craft experience, civil engineering, and/or civil field engineering experience.
Possess the right to work and remain in the US without sponsorship. Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs which may require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, using fall protection and other personal protective equipment (PPE), walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, and maneuvering around very small and/or confined spaces.

Flexibility and ability to multitask required. Knowledge of requirements for Lock Out Tag Out for safety. Detailed knowledge of AISC and ACI codes. Understanding rebar placement drawings, steel erection drawings and architectural finish drawings. Computer literate including experience in 3D and 4D modeling software, word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications in accordance with current Bechtel standards.
Preferred Qualifications: Possess Nuclear Construction knowledge. Experience with, or working knowledge of, Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) and associated applications, automation tools, and work practices. Knowledge of and experience working with Bechtel’s Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs) or Bechtel’s Nuclear Work Process Procedures (NWPPs). Knowledge of Bechtel’s Zero Accident Safety Program and familiar with current industry standards. Knowledge and experience of the ISMS guiding principles and core functions. Position Summary: A successful Senior Project Controls Engineer, Cost on the Waste Treatment Plant (WTP) Project will collaborate with their lead/supervisor to perform cost/schedule engineering and/or implementing change control, risk management, project financial controls, and reporting work processes. All work will be carried out within established Project Controls processes and procedures that comply with certified EVMS standards and Bechtel’s corporate requirements.
The successful candidate will also have an innovative approach to completing their work, advanced automation skills, and/or Business Intelligence Analytics, and will require frequent interaction with other members of the project team to develop solutions to execution challenges. Responsibilities: Understand the project scope, schedule, and cost objectives and work with assigned department(s) to develop and implement a plan for successful execution. Perform cost engineering, change control, risk management, and/or reporting activities in coordination with other members of the Project Controls team that require a moderate level of technical skill and experience.
Conduct routine cost control and performance analysis activities, as well as basic cost estimating tasks related to the assigned scope. Actively participate in project risk management and change control processes, as needed. Prepare routine performance reports and special studies related to assigned scope for presentation to project, corporate, and/or customer management team(s). Coordinate the development, multi-discipline inputs, checking, reviews, and approvals of the WTP Project Financial Status Report (PFSR) and related financial processes. Complete all work in compliance with the project’s certified Earned Value Management System and corporate procedure requirements necessary to maintain the integration of the project’s resource loaded Integrated Master Schedule, Cost Processor, and associated software tools. Job Duties: Assists in developing and implementing requirements for DFLAW / Project Services cost recording, cost coding, reporting, and analyzing standards, programs, and reports.
Performs performance monitoring and control functions for specific applications. Performs cost data analysis and development for monthly reviews, monthly variance analysis for Control Account Managers, monthly reporting to DOE of engineering cost/schedule variances. Prepares cost backup for change control trends using Cobra. Performs charge coding direction and prepares estimated actuals for engineering other direct cost subcontracts. Understands and supports Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS). Coordinates quantity estimates for trends/baseline change proposals.
Assists in developing specific project control accounts and recommends appropriate modifications and revisions. This includes training in the proper use and definitions for the cost accounts.
